I recently decided that I want to spend more of my money on experiences rather than things. I’ve been buying ‘things’ for years and it just doesn’t make you happy! I also really want to appreciate all the creative opportunities in Sheffield – there’s loads going on… so when I saw that the absolutely stunning florists, Swallows & Damsons were doing a wreath school, I was quick to sign up.
My lovely friend Meg joined me, and other than getting lost on the way there (a very ‘me’ thing to happen) it was so much fun! It was inside a stunning chapel, there was the most yummy mince pies and gorgeous flowers everywhere. It smelt amazing!
Having never made wreaths before, we were a little slow and had to rush to get them finished, but overall it was a really fun experience and I highly encourage you to go to crafty events like this. My wreath is going in my dining room so I went for a neutral colour scheme, full of dried grasses – a current obsession of mine.
Even if wreath making isn’t your thing, it’s very rewarding going somewhere and meeting like minded people, and making something by hand which you can take home with you. It filled me with so much more joy than a new jumper or a pair of jeans would!
